Greece's Influence on Sports and Sport Medicine

I managed to climb to the top of the Mycenae Acropolis in Greece.

My experience in Greece was incredible; from the traveling, the new culture, and the educational aspect I wish I could relive the experience. Greece gave me a better insight into other people’s culture; it placed me in their shoes while I was there. When we went on tours I felt like I was seeing this beautiful country through their eyes and I could not have asked for more.

We departed from Cincinnati to Paris on March 14, 2015 during spring break and the flight was amazing. The fact that the flight had personal TVs in the back of each seat was an unexpected surprise. As soon as we landed in the Paris airport I felt like I was in heaven; I was so overwhelmed with all the major designer stores that they had in the Paris airport. I became more anxious to get to Greece and see what it was like there.

Once we arrived in Greece I was running on adrenaline. The first thing we did was go out and explore with the group and I felt like I was immersed in the Greek culture. It seemed like they had a festival going on; the streets were busy and crowded. The people in Greece were quite aggressive when it came to getting your business and they love to solicit their free Wi-Fi. One important thing I learned while walking the streets of Greece, more specifically Athens was to not take anything from anyone, they will not want to take it back and they will try and make you pay for it. The second we returned to the hotel my adrenaline wore off and I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow; well that’s how I was pretty much every night because our days were jam packed.

We were actively viewing sites and learning history for most of the days. I would have to say that the most memorable site that I saw while in Greece was the ancient Olympic stadium. How many people will be able to say that they actually walked through the tunnel and ran on the stadium where the ancient Olympic Games took place? Greece overall was a remarkable experience. The food and the sites took the cake. People kept saying that I would not like the food and they were right, I loved it. I just wanted to get an authentic Greek experience and that is what I felt like I got.

One day I will return to Greece. Also I have to get another fish pedicure. That was probably the highlight of my trip. I was so nervous at first, just the thought that the fish would be eating dead skin off my feet made me uncomfortable, but the fact that we all got the chance to experience it together as our last hoorah in Greece made the whole experience priceless!
